Hackathons for Schools Association ensures to create a safe and friendly environment for everyone at our events. Any sort of harassment will not be tolerated. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Harassment can involve the following areas:
- Gender
- Gender identity and expression
- Age
- Sexual orientation
- Race
- Religion
- Disability
- Ethnicity
- Appearance
- Body size
- Verbal comments
- Political views
- Hackathon experience
- Computing experience and skills
- Programming language of choice
- Tech stack of choice
- Hardware, such as laptop or phone
We do not tolerate harassment of participants or mentors in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at any hackathon venue, this includes the following:
- Activity sessions (which are equally subject to the anti-harassment policy)
- Talks, presentations, or demos
- Workshops
- Any parties associated to the activity session
- Social media
- Any other online media
If any Hackathons for Schools Association participants violate these rules, their teacher will be contacted and their school may wish to take further action. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact anyone at a Hackathons for Schools Association Member Event. They will be happy to help participants contact any local security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event.
